Nvidia has joined forces with Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries to develop advanced AI-powered robots specifically designed for shipbuilding. The robots, crafted under this partnership, will be equipped to handle a range of tasks including welding, painting, inspection, and material management, which are crucial components in ship construction.

The initiative is particularly significant in addressing Japan’s pressing labor challenges. With an aging population and a dwindling number of skilled workers, the country faces a substantial labor shortage. During a recent visit to Tokyo, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang highlighted the importance of early support from partners in Nvidia’s journey. He specifically acknowledged Sega for its pivotal role in the company’s history, noting that Sega’s $5 million investment in the 1990s was instrumental in helping Nvidia sustain itself during its formative years.
