Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyễn Minh Vũ recently visited the Cambodian provinces of Stung Treng and Kratie, aiming to bolster cooperation between Vietnamese localities and northeastern Cambodia. This visit also provided an opportunity to assess the activities of Vietnamese businesses and the living conditions of the Vietnamese-origin community in the region.

In discussions with local leaders, both parties explored ways to expand cooperation across various sectors, including trade, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, and investment. Cambodian officials underscored the strengthening ties with Vietnamese provinces through established cooperation agreements, business exchanges, and joint development projects.

Kratie province recognized the diplomatic progress and socio-economic collaboration with Vietnam, particularly highlighting support in infrastructure development and collaborative efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers from the wartime period in Cambodia. Ambassador Nguyễn Minh Vũ commended the contributions of Vietnamese enterprises in agriculture, mining, and rubber production, noting these initiatives have aided local economic growth and enhanced bilateral relations.

In Stung Treng, local authorities pointed out the province’s investment potential in high-tech agriculture and eco-tourism, encouraging further exploration by Vietnamese businesses. The ambassador took the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Vietnamese-origin community to address legal and livelihood concerns, advocating for adherence to local regulations and promoting education and sustainable development.

Vietnam stands as one of Cambodia’s largest foreign investors, with over 200 investment projects and a total registered capital of approximately $3 billion currently active in the country.
