Indonesia’s Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara has delineated specific responsibilities for three newly appointed deputy finance ministers, a move aimed at enhancing fiscal management and coordination within the ministry. This strategic allocation of duties is intended to bolster the country’s fiscal administration as it navigates revenue collection, public spending, and regional funding.
Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung will take charge of the financial sector, international affairs, and financing, while Nurkholisoh Ibnu Aman will handle state revenue, including taxes, customs and excise duties, and non-tax revenue. Meanwhile, Luky Alfirman is tasked with overseeing state expenditure, treasury operations, and transfers to regional governments. Despite this division, all deputies will work collaboratively with the finance minister on broader management tasks, organizational matters, human resources, and budgeting.
The appointments were formalized under Presidential Decree No. 104P of 2026, with Agung being joined by Alfirman and Nurkholisoh in supporting the finance minister. Alfirman is a seasoned official within the Finance Ministry, and Nurkholisoh brings to the table his experience as an economist and researcher at Bank Indonesia.
The restructuring comes as Indonesia reports a significant increase in state revenue, reaching approximately 2,341.5 trillion rupiah by the end of September 2026. This figure marks a 25.5% rise compared to the same period in the previous year, accounting for 74.2% of the government’s annual revenue target. The finance minister highlighted that the new roles are not meant to limit the deputies’ involvement in other areas but rather to improve focus and efficiency in managing the country’s fiscal policies.
